HOBY Ohio South is looking for leaders to serve on staff for the 2017 Leadership Seminar to be held June 8–11, 2017 at Marietta College.
With our move to Marietta College for our 40th HOBY Ohio South seminar, this year will be an historic one for our site. We’re looking forward to both welcoming back returning staff members and getting to know some fresh faces to create a dynamic and engaging seminar staff.
Junior Staff members (under 21) will need to log at least 100 L4S hours at HOBY.org and ensure and an ambassador from your high school is registered for the seminar. In addition, a gift-in-kind, financial sponsor, or donation in the amount of $175 will be required by all Junior Staff. This must be turned in by May 1, 2017.
New this year, Senior Staff members (21 and over) will be challenged to raise or contribute at least $100 to the seminar to help offset the cost of their room and board at the seminar.
Also new this year, Junior Staff applicants are being asked to upload a 2-3 minute video demonstrating what makes you a unique leader, and/or what special talent you’d bring to the seminar. You can do anything you want with the video, from a simple webcam recording to a produced video. Don’t worry about whether this is a talent of yours or not — we’re focused on what you communicate, not how you’re communicating it. Make sure you create the video before you complete this application, as you will be required to upload it and can’t save the application while in progress.
You do NOT have to have prior HOBY volunteer experience to apply but previous leadership experience, non-profit experience, and/or occupational fields that work with youth are qualities that we will be looking for in a successful team.
The application must be completed by January 27, 2017. If you have questions, please contact the Director of Facilitators, Leslie Huber, at [email protected].
